Introduction

Hello fellow Bloggers.

I'm a devoted LiveJournal addict but decided I wanted to bring some blogging over here. I will still be on LJ for those of you who like to peek into my life a little deeper. This blog will strictly be for dietetics and my personal dieting related things.

That being said, after a presentation today I have decided I would like to try being a flexitarian. What exactly is a flexitarian? Well, in my humble opinion... a flexitarian is someone who eats a mostly vegetarian diet but occasionally dines on animal flesh from time to time. You know, like Thanksgiving. Who can resist a Thanksgiving turkey? Or when mom makes her famous meatloaf... seriously, I can't pass that up. And if my boyfriend decides he wants to be romantic and take me to a steakhouse, I'm not ordering a salad.

I was a vegetarian for almost a year in 2008. I never felt healthier or happier in my life. I was at a healthy weight and I had a lot of energy and love for life. It was difficult, though, to maintain the lifestyle for a long time. My family are meateaters and I was back in school where it is not very vegetarian friendly, even if they say they are. So, alas, it didn't work out.

But I think I can handle being a flexitarian. Let's see how I do...
